You’ve probably heard a lot about the effect of stress on our hearts but the link between the two isn’t quite clear. What we do know is that stress can lead to high blood pressure, smoking, physical inactivity, and overeating and that those can all lead to heart disease. Sex has been linked to smaller blood pressure spikes when people are faced with stressors. It is also associated with lower baseline blood pressure, better heart rate variability, and a 2010 study found that men who had sex at least twice a week were less likely to develop heart disease.
