Ignoring Proper Form So You Can Lift More Weight
In almost every exercise you can do at the gym, you shouldn’t be leaning, twisting, arching, or otherwise straining your body to complete an exercise.
“My biggest piece of advice is to leave your ego behind you and focus on proper form,” says Jake Pacheco, the founder of the online personal training company Modern Body. “You can get away with not using proper form when you’re young, but doing so when you’re older can lead to serious injury. Slow down, take your time, use proper form, and don’t allow your ego to push you to lift more than you actually should.”
