The U.S. may lead the world in beer innovation, but until now, we've sadly lagged behind Europe in beer-based spas. Thankfully, Oregon's Hop in the Spa has just opened, offering services like barley grain foot scrubs, hop oil wraps, or beer soaks. Yes, they'll gladly give you a pint to enjoy. And yes, the treatments are actually good for you.

Though Hop in the Spa in Sisters, Oregon, was only opened this month, the idea of an immersive beer experience isn't new. Similar spas exist in Prague, citing the health benefits of hops, which have been used as a natural medicine since the Middle Ages.

Founded by massage therapist Sally Champa and marketer Mike Boyle, Hop in the Spa offers everything from a 25-minute microwbrew soak — to improve skin tone and reduce stress — to a "hops on the body" treatment to release tension and toxins that features a wrap of hops provided by Deschutes Brewing. One of the services offered by the spa even lets guests to take an overnight stay, that includes beer (and wine), dinner, and a movie, followed by a stay at a neighboring bunkhouse. Massage makes up another component of the service, using hop-infused oils as a way to flush toxins, increase blood flow, and replenish the skin.

For now, all services are rendered on location, but in the future, the company plans to expand into products. First up is the company's "Bath Brews" line that are sold individually in 4-ounce taster glasses or as a flight of four. Expect other products like Hop in the Cup (hop-infused coffee) and Hop in the Bath (beer-inspired bath products) down the pipeline.
