Editors’ Pick: The Bar at Husk – Charleston, SC
While James Beard award-winning chef Sean Brock is best known for reinventing and modernizing traditional Southern cuisine, we’d rather get a seat at The Bar at Husk than the fully booked restaurant next door (well, almost).
Transformed from a dilapidated two-story building in the center of town, this atmospheric pub offers a serious throwback to an earlier era in Charleston’s boozy history. Bartenders (who look like they might have commuted in from the late 1800s) stock more than 60 distinct varieties of bourbon and whiskey, and pause between drink orders to shave and serve razor-thin slices of cured ham directly from a pigs thigh displayed on the counter.
