If you can’t plant, cut, and push off without fear of blowing out your gym shoe a la Zion Williamson, then your HIIT workout, CrossFit regimen, or MetCon session is going to end prematurely and, quite possibly, very painfully. Thankfully, Under Armour just dropped a pair of gym shoes designed to make every intense workout a worry-free one.
The new Under Armour TriBase Reign is designed to keep you planted even as your workout moves from one area of the gym to the next, indoors or out. Three points of contact for a low, stable base allows natural foot flexibility. This results in superior upwards flexibility to promote natural motion, plus downwards flexibility to grip the ground during lifts.
The Reign is especially great for doing Murphs. The most intense CrossFit workout requires two one-mile runs, one before your reps and one after. So you’ll need a shoe that not only provides stability on the mat and in the gym, but one that can handle the punishment of an outdoor run.
An extra-sticky outsole provides a strong bite, and reduced rubber under the toes helps to amplify floor-feel. Tough ripstop material and durable mesh offer lightweight support and all-around abrasion resistance. Full-rubber outsole wraps up the lateral and medial sides of the foot for greater durability. This training shoe also has a medial rope grip, to keep you moving even when you’re off the floor.
The Under Armour TriBase Reign is available now in multiple colorways, ranging from from a mod gray/white, Aruba red/black and black on black. Available in men’s sizes 7-14. Women’s sizes are also available for purchase.
