Octane Zero Runner
If you’re a diehard runner who’s having a hard time letting go of your treadmill habit, see if your gym has an Octane Zero Runner. It’s kinda like an elliptical, in that it provides a zero-impact alternative to running, but the experience is so much better. Unlike traditional ellipticals that follow a predetermined track or path, hampering your natural gait, the Zero Runner has independent hip and knee joints so you can run as close to naturally as possible, even letting you change your stride length as you go. The machine does take some getting used to, as it makes you feel like you’re running in the deep end of the pool, but according to Boston Marathon running coach Rick Muhr, it’s a great way for long-distance runners to avoid some of the stressful, repetitive impact of logging lots of miles.
