Anyone who lets their beers replace their workouts and pizza consumption outpace vegetables will soon fall victim to the semi-soft state of fitness now so commonly referred to as “dad bod.” Even if you’re happy to carry extra weight and let your muscles fade, fighting “dad bod” isn’t just about how you look, or living longer, or being able to snowboard when you’re 80, but how you feel. “It’s one thing to look like shit, but it’s another thing to feel like shit,” says Jason Walsh, the celebrity fitness trainer who works with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Justin Timberlake and is responsible for Bradley Cooper’s body transformation for American Sniper. “I can guarantee you that the guys with ‘dad bod’ don’t feel good. If you think you do, get in shape and then get back to me.”
