He’s like a modern day Dr. Spock, except with a TV star wife (Jessica Capshaw of Grey’s Anatomy) and a business partner who moonlights as a stripper assassin (Jessica Alba, who had a bullet-ridden summer in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For). Just reading Gavigan’s resume could make you feel like an underachiever. He’s the former CEO of non-profit Healthy Child Healthy World, the founder of Pinnacle Expedition—an outdoor leadership program for teenagers—and the bestselling author of Healthy Child Healthy World. He also somehow finds time to raise three kids; Luke, Eve, and Poppy.
He and Alba recently teamed up to start The Honest Company, which supplies safe, eco-friendly childcare products to parents, everything from diapers to sunscreen. It’s a clean-living philosophy that he things everybody should take seriously, not just parents. “Embrace a healthier, non-toxic lifestyle,” he says. “Chemicals are everywhere, so use natural, organic body care products, and plant-based home cleaners.”
The secret to his success boils down to a simple core philosophy: “Live your life as if everything is rigged in your favor,” he says. He also follows the advice of Roman philosopher Seneca, who once wrote “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” His stellar year might also have something to do with his tireless energy, thanks to a fitness routine that impresses even his business co-hort Alba. “Christopher is awesome in the truest sense of the word,” she says. “He’ll do a headstand in the middle of the day without breaking a sweat. And he’ll outrace everyone in a flywheel class.”
FIT FACT: His inspiration to “live green” comes from his grandfather who at 80 years old would do pushups and situps, as told to eco18.com.
