2. Ask before jumping in
Gyms can get crowded, especially if you’re going at peak times (like before or after normal working hours). Realize that other people are trying to work out without having to deal with rude or oblivious people, so when you find someone using a piece of equipment you’d also like to use, ask them if you can work in. “You’d want people to do it to you if you were using something,” says Boyce. “And taking the time to be polite can encourage the spirit of sharing, making everyone’s time in the gym more pleasant.”
Most people will accommodate and have no problem with letting you jump in; they also know how frustrating it can be to work everything in when it’s crowded. Asking doesn’t hurt anyone.
