Sweating is your body’s built-in air conditioning. When your core temperature rises on a sweltering day, before a stressful work presentation, or during a hard-charging gym session, your body releases water on the skin, where it evaporates and cools your entire system. But sweating can also be stinky and uncomfortable, and if you’re one of those guys that sweats buckets, it’s potentially embarrassing too. Luckily there are preventive measures you can take before you get too soppy, as well as in the moment, so you can stop it before you drip all over the weight room, says New York City dermatologist Debra Jaliman, M.D., author of Skin Rules. These eight tactics will help rein in the waterworks.
