Industrial Light & Magic is a digital effects company created by George Lucas in 1975 to generate the special effects for Star Wars. Since then, ILM has lent their expertise to over 300 films and earned 15 Academy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Visual Effects and 28 Scientific and Technical Achievement awards from the Academy. (Underachievers, right?) So, to celebrate their 40th anniversary, they brought some nostalgia to viewers and fans by compiling a video commemorating the films they’ve helped make epic. Watch below—and see how many movies you recognize.
One you’re sure to have seen as a child or adult that ILM had an integral part in creating is Jurassic Park. If you were impressed by those special effects—just a reminder, Jurassic Park came out in 1993 (a fact that makes us feel old, too)—take a look at the latest Jurassic World trailer. Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, this installment looks like it will be one of ILM’s greatest CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) creations yet. The film pemiers June 12 and, just going out on a limb here, it’s going to blow your mind. You’ll feel like your 8-year-old self again. Just don’t redecorate your room with dinosaur bed sheets.
