LGD-4033 (Ligandrol) Results: I Tried It For 30 Days. Does It Work?
This article is presented by Brandingbyexperts.com, Men’s Journal is not endorsing the products mentioned below.
For the past 30 days, I’ve been using a SARM called: LGD-4033, better known in the bodybuilding world as Ligandrol.
They say that LGD-4033 can:
- Boost energy
- Boost testosterone
- Increase lean muscle mass and strength
But is it safe, and does it actually work?
Keep reading to find out because I’m about to tell you what happened when I used it for 30 days!
What is LGD-4033 aka Ligandrol?
LGD-4033 is a type of oral, nonsteroidal drug known as a “selective androgen receptor modulator” or “SARM” for short.
LGD-4033 is one of many different SARMs currently available. Some help build muscle, and some help burn fat.
Ligandrol is one for building muscle.
As their name suggests, SARMs are designed to activate androgenic signaling, just like testosterone, but be selective, so they primarily affect androgen receptors.
The benefits of being selective are fewer side effects.
The development of LGD-4033 was motivated by concerns about testosterone’s effect on the prostate.
It was designed to bind to androgen receptors without causing a change in prostate-specific antigen.
In other words, LGD-4033 was created to offer patients the anabolic benefits of testosterone without causing serious adverse effects like prostate damage.
This seems too good to be true, so I dug into the legal status of LGD-4033, and here’s what I found.
Is LGD-4033 Legal?
Like most things, Ligandrol is available on the internet, but is it legal?
It is legal to buy and sell SARMs like LGD-4033 as long as they are sold as “research chemicals” and not marketed as supplements.
Ligandrol is not an approved drug or nutritional supplement and has not passed Phase 2 clinical trials or been evaluated by the US FDA.
The waters are still murky when it comes to buying and selling this stuff, but in general, SARMs are legal, and it is not an offense to buy them.
What benefits does LGD-4033 have to offer?
Benefits of LGD-4033
As a research chemical, LGD-4033 can’t be said to offer any benefits. However, it has been tested in a small human trial, and here’s what we know.
In 2013, a randomized, controlled trial by Basaria et al. evaluated the effects and safety of Ligandrol on a group of 76 healthy test subjects aged 21-50.
The researchers wanted to see what effect it had on lean body mass, muscle strength, stair-climbing power, and sex hormones.
They randomly assigned the test subjects to receive a placebo or 0.1 mg, 0.3 mg, or 1.0 mg of LGD-4033 daily for 21 days.
The trial found that LGD-4033:
- Increased lean body mass
- Increased muscle strength
- Did not change prostate-specific antigen
While these results may seem impressive, it’s important to note that the trial was very short in duration.
Longer trials are needed to evaluate what long-term benefits LGD-4033 may offer.
It’s also important to consider the side effects before taking an experimental drug.
Side Effects of LGD-4033
Here’s what I learned about the possible side effects.
Because LGD-4033 is a research chemical, it has no safe or recommended dose.
But there is one trial and one case report that indicate what side effects it may cause in humans.
Suppressed Hormone Levels and Lipids
The main side effect of LGD-4033 seems to be that it suppresses hormone levels and lipids, especially total and free testosterone levels.
The 2013 trial found that while LGD-4033 caused no drug-related serious adverse events, it did suppress levels of:
- Total testosterone
- Sex hormone-binding globulin
- High-density lipoprotein cholesterol
- Triglyceride levels
- Follicle-stimulating hormone
- Free testosterone
These worrying side effects are the opposite of what we want.
Researchers found that LGD-4033’s ability to suppress hormone levels and lipids is dose-dependent.
This means that test subjects on higher doses of LGD-4033 experienced more severely suppressed hormone levels and lipids than those on lower doses.
While this trial found that the test subjects’ hormone levels and lipids returned to baseline after the trial ended, the short duration limits our understanding of what side effects LGD-4033 may cause.
It’s not known what long-term effect LGD-4033 may have on the body.
Liver Injury
The second side effect of LGD-4033 is that it can cause liver injury.
This case report by Barbara et al. described the case of a 32-year-old man who developed severe drug-induced liver injury after using LGD-4033.
According to the report, he developed “cholestatic hepatitis with a mild portal, periportal, and perisinusoidal fibrosis” after taking a cycle of LGD-4033.
After reading up about LGD-4033, I was interested in whether it really does increase strength and muscle mass.
But I was also concerned about the side effects and my health.
It seemed to me that the risk of side effects could be reduced by keeping the dose relatively low.
So, I decided to order some Ligandrol and give it a try and stop using it if things went wrong.
My LGD-4033 Results
After reading a lot about it online, I saw that the “recommended” dose was between 5-10mg per day, so I decided to keep it on the low end and started taking 5mg of Ligandrol per day.
Here’s what happened:
Energy and Endurance:
Within a few days, I began to feel the LGD-4033 kick in.
The first thing I noticed was how much more energy I had, and when I started working out, it felt like I had rocket fuel in the tank.
Strength Gains:
I also noticed some serious strength gains when it came to working out.
Even at 5mg/day, I felt more anabolic and stronger and started getting some serious pumps.
After just a few days, I was doing more reps than ever before, so I had to up my weights significantly.
Muscle Gains: In the 30 days I used LGD-4033, I gained 6 lbs. (3kg), but my body fat percentage went down. It’s hard to say how much muscle I gained precisely, but it was quite a lot and noticeable.
My brother even asked if I was using steroids because I was looking so swole, and I started getting a lot of extra attention from women, especially at the gym.
Side Effects: In the 30 days I used Ligandrol, I did experience some worrying side effects.
First, I was getting bad headaches which I never used to get.
And towards the end, I got some horrible shooting pains in my liver area that didn’t feel right.
The headaches and liver pains have all disappeared since I stopped using LGD-4033.
Should You Buy LGD-4033?
I planned to use LGD-4033 for 90 days, but in the end the constant headaches and the shooting liver pains were too worrying, so I decided to cut the experiment short.
Although I did love the extra energy, amazing workouts, and muscle gains, I didn’t think it was worth ruining my health.
So, unfortunately, I can’t recommend Ligandrol, and if you care about your health, I recommend staying away from it.
I Found a Better Alternative To LGD-4033!
My experience with Ligandrol started great, and if it weren’t for the side effects, I would probably recommend it.
Anyway, after I stopped using it, I started reading more into the side effects and if there’s a way to prevent them, and that’s when I heard about a product called: Ligan-4033 by Crazy Bulk.
The makers say that Ligan-4033 provides the same benefits as LGD-4033 but without the negative side effects.
I was skeptical but decided to buy some and give it a try.
I’ve been using Ligan-4033 for a month now with zero side effects and think it’s a great product.
Since using it:
- My energy levels are up
- I’m gaining muscle
- My mood has improved
- My workouts are on another level
- I have more stamina and can workout for longer without getting tired
- I’m much more anabolic and explosive during sets
- I’m recovering faster
- My sex drive is up too
After giving it a try, I’d say their claims are true. Ligan-4033 is like real Ligandrol but without the negative side effects.
I recommend giving it a try first instead of LGD-4033 if you want to build muscle fast and get in the best shape of your life.
