People who listen to their own playlist not only push themselves harder and experience a mood boost but also have fonder memories of their workout session, which could help motivate them to get out the door next time, suggests research from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

“This is the first study to show a ‘remembered pleasure’ from exercising to music,” says study author Jasmin Hutchinson.
