6. Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in ‘Captain Marvel’
Larson isn’t the first Oscar-winning actor to appear in a Marvel film: Anthony Hopkins played Thor’s father, Odin, in all of the Thor films, including most recently in Thor: Ragnarok. Cate Blanchett also appeared in Ragnarok as the villain Hela. Jeff Bridges appeared as the villainous Obadiah Stane in the first Iron Man, back in 2008. Other Oscar winners in the MCU: Benicio del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy), Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), William Hurt (The Incredible Hulk), Forest Whitaker (Black Panther), Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man films, The Avengers), Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Michael Douglas (Ant-Man), Natalie Portman (Thor, Thor: The Dark World), Robert Redford (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange), and Tommy Lee Jones (Iron Man).
