The Pullup/Pushup Challenges for #BCAstrength

Every two minutes, an American woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, according to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). That’s our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, girlfriends, wives… And as you let that sink in, consider this, too: 2,350 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2015, according to estimates from the American Cancer Society.

That’s right – although their risk is much lower, men can be diagnosed with breast cancer, too. Even those of us who haven’t been directly impacted may have a loved one who’s been diagnosed, or may simply want to support the cause this October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) and year-round.

The Estée Lauder Companies is helping guys get involved with its 2015 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, launching October 1st and continuing throughout the year. Through its powerful call-to-action, “Every Action Counts. What’s Yours?,” The BCA Campaign is inviting men and women around the world to share how they take action in the fight against breast cancer – and they’re making those actions count.

It’s simple to get involved and make a difference – for every action submitted on or unique action post on Instagram or Twitter with #BCAstrength between October 1, 2015 and World Cancer Day on February 4, 2016, The Estée Lauder Companies will donate $25 to BCRF, up to 500 research hours ($25,000), which is part of The BCA Campaign’s larger global $6 million fundraising goal for the year. Curious as to what that $25 does? It helps fund 30 minutes of breast cancer research through BCRF.

Every action – big or small – counts in the fight against breast cancer, so be sure to share yours. These actions can be simple, whether it’s learning about your family history (did you know that men can be carriers of gene mutations that can be passed on to the their children?), offering support to a friend or loved one who’s been diagnosed, or maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise to help reduce cancer risk, every action truly has meaning and men can play a significant and powerful role in this fight. Hear that? Commit to regular, intentional physical activity and share those push-ups or pull-ups with your social media community.
