Margot Robbie’s schedule is starting to look like Kevin Hart’s.
The Australian actress has signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. to develop her own production company’s film projects, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. In film-industry parlance, that means WB has paid to be first in line to develop any upcoming movies from Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap—and, in turn, gives Robbie’s company a big commercial advantage when planning out new projects.
Oh yeah—and she’s only 26.
After breaking out in Wolf of Wall Street (you remember that scene), Robbie has consistently impressed with her acting talent in movies like Focus and Suicide Squad, in which her turn as DC’s fan-favorite darling psychopath, Harley Quinn, propelled the not-quite-critically-beloved ensemble flick to a worldwide box office take of more than $700 million.
So it’s no surprise that Robbie is signed on for a standalone Harley Quinn movie—even if, as THR reports, it will zoom out to include other DC heroines and villainesses. But what sets her apart is her Hollywood rise on the other side of the camera.
Robbie is set to produce the still-untitled Harley Quinn project, as well as producing Queen of the Air, another Warner Bros. movie, in which she’ll star as the real-life Lillian Leitzel, a turn-of-the-century trapeze artist who was one of the most renowned (and romantically entangled) stars of her day.
There’s plenty more in the pipeline from her production company, too. Robbie is also producing Terminal, in which she stars as an enigmatic woman with mysterious connections to two hitmen played by Max Irons and Dexter Fletcher. Currently in post-production, distribution rights forTerminal have already sold out around the world. (So yeah, we’re gonna plan on seeing this, and you should too.) LuckyChap is also producing I, Tonya, about disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding, and an adaptation of Matt Ruff’s novel Bad Monkeys, a Minority Report-style sci-fi thriller, THR reports.
At that rate, Robbie might just end up becoming one of the next rulers of Hollywood. Dwayne Johnson, you’re on notice.
