Your Balance and Flexibility Suck
Balance and flexibility training aren’t just for the chicks. In fact, Rachael Novello, a personal trainer and the owner of The Simply Fit Studio, says she looks for poor balance and range of motion first when training men. These fundamental elements of fitness may not seem like a big deal, but if you ignore them for too long, they can drastically affect quality of life. Small changes in range of motion, particularly at your shoulders and hips, can lead to an “old man shuffle” or the inability to reach your hands over your head. If you find yourself a little unsteady when changing direction or standing up, or if you just can’t move the way you used to, it’s time to seek out an expert.
