Have some chicken soup.
There’s no randomized trial to refer to, just centuries of motherly wisdom to heed. Chicken soup is more than just a generational myth, however, since it contains carnosine, which has been shown in at least one recent study to block some of the virus-induced inflammation caused by the common cold. The increased hydration that comes with consuming the soup certainly helps and, besides, it tastes good, too. Sorry, vegetarians, but the highest concentrations of carnosine are found in muscle tissue, like chicken breast!
