SR9009 (Stenabolic) Results: I Tried It For 1 Month. Here’s What Happened

Article presented by, Men’s Journal is not endorsing the products mentioned below.

A few months ago, a friend recommended a SARM called SR9009 (Stenabolic) for my next cut and said it would help me get ripped.

After looking into it and reading that it will boost energy, help me work out harder, and burn fat faster, I decided to try it for 30 days.

They say it’s safer than using steroids as well.

But does SR9009 really work? And is it safe to use?

Keep reading to find out what happened when I tried it.

What is SR9009 aka Stenabolic?

SR9009, also known as Stenabolic, is commonly referred to as a “SARM,” which stands for “selective androgen receptor modulator”.

SARMs are synthetic drugs that bind to androgen receptors and produce anabolic benefits without androgenic side effects.

The World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) banned SARMs in 2008 and classified SR9009 as a “Hormone and Metabolic Modulator”.

To date, SARMs have not been approved by the FDA and have no clinical use.

However, the lack of FDA approval hasn’t stopped bodybuilders and athletes from buying and using SARMs.

People who have used SR9009 say that it will:

  • Boost energy and endurance
  • Preserve muscle mass
  • Burn body fat

But does SR9009 really offer these benefits?

I dug into the research, and here’s what I found.

SR9009 Benefits

The first thing you should know about SR9009 is that it hasn’t been tested in humans and has yet to pass any Phase 1 or Phase 2 clinical trial.

Anecdotal evidence by people who have used it says that Stenabolic will:

  • Boost energy
  • Increase stamina
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Take your workouts to the next level
  • Preserve muscle mass while cutting.

It is sold online as a “research chemical” and is not intended for human use, despite often packaged in capsule form or as a liquid in a dropper bottle.

SARMs are not illegal to buy either.

The second thing you should know is that most of the purported benefits of SR9009 are based on animal studies involving rodents and have not been examined in humans.

Here’s a brief overview of the research.

Anti-obesity properties in mice

SR9009’s role as a REV-ERB antagonist means that it seems to have a strong impact on metabolism.

  • This 2012 study found that diet-induced obese mice lost significant fat mass when given SR9009. This finding suggests that Stenabolic may be beneficial in treating metabolic diseases and help reduce fat storage in the body.
  • This 2021 study found that using SR9009 to target REV-ERBα/BMAL1 in mice helped ameliorate HFD-induced (high-fat-diet) obesity. It seems that SR9009 may be especially effective at managing metabolic diseases caused by excess fat intake.
  • This 2013 study found that SR9009 improved exercise capacity in mice by increasing the number of mitochondria in the rodents’ skeletal muscle. While many of SR9009’s supposed benefits are based on this study, this effect has yet to be examined in human test subjects.

In mice, Stenabolic is proven to help burn fat and increase exercise performance.

These findings seem encouraging, but what about side effects?

Side effects of SR9009

Very little is known about SR9009 side effects in humans, with no clinical trials to refer to.

I couldn’t find any documented cases of Stenabolic causing overdose or severe side effects.

However, all animal research involving SR9009 demonstrates that it strongly affects the circadian rhythm.

While results from these studies cannot be extrapolated to humans, they strongly suggest that SR9009 could have a detrimental effect on sleep.

How is SR9009 dosed?

SR9009 is a research chemical with no safe or recommended dosage in humans.

However, anecdotal evidence suggests that most athletes and bodybuilders take 10-40mg daily for 6-8 weeks.

As SR9009 has a half-life of 4-5 hours, most athletes divide their daily dose into smaller amounts and take these doses throughout the day.

For example, a 20mg dose could be taken in four doses of 5mg.

SR9009 appears to have low bioavailability, and many users seem to inject it rather than taking it orally.

As this wasn’t an option for me, I decided to buy some SR9009 capsules, and here’s what happened.

My Experience with SR9009

My goal was to use SR9009 to burn fat and get ripped on my cutting phase.

So, I decided to combine it with:

  • Intermittent fasting: For me, this meant skipping breakfast and just having lunch and dinner.
  • Low-Carb: I reduced my carb intake to around 70 grams daily to burn fat. Most of the carbs came from potatoes. The rest was protein, healthy fats, and vegetables.
  • Lighter weights and more cardio: I still lifted weights but just went lighter, doing 20 reps per set. And more cardio after lifting weights.

Because I was eating real food and intermittent fasting, I didn’t track my calorie intake because I knew it would be low enough to burn fat.

I started with 20 mg of SR9009 daily, divided into four doses of 5 mg every four hours. Here’s what I experienced.

  • First, remembering to take the SR9009 every 4 hours was a real hassle, and I missed a fair few doses in the beginning.
  • After a few days of taking it, I noticed a significant boost in my energy levels, especially during workouts, and felt a real difference in my cardio.
  • I also noticed my endurance levels improve. Even though I ate less, I was killing my workouts and training hard.
  • I also didn’t notice any loss of strength either. Usually, when I go on my cutting phase, I begin to feel weaker as time goes on. But on this, I still felt strong.

My cutting phase was going great, but after a few weeks of taking it, I began having trouble getting to sleep, and it got to the point where no matter how tired I was, I just couldn’t drift off.

This left me feeling drained, and I had no energy or motivation to work out or continue my cutting phase.

I stopped taking Stenabolic, and within 24 hours, I was back to sleeping normally again.

Should You Buy SR9009?

Everything started great with SR9009. I had more energy, more endurance, and my workouts were on another level.

Combined with a lower-carb diet, intermittent fasting, and regular exercise, I was burning fat fast and getting shredded.

But the side effects like insomnia kicked in, and I had to stop using it.

So, unless you like sleepless nights, headaches, and feeling drained all the time because you can’t sleep, I wouldn’t recommend SR9009.

What’s Better Than SR9009?

After getting such good results at the beginning with Stenabolic, I wasn’t ready to give up just yet.

So, I started looking into alternatives to see what else was out there, and I found a product called Stena 9009 by Crazy Bulk.

They say Stena 9009 will give you SR9009 like results without side effects.

Their website looked good, and I was intrigued, so I decided to try it and bought a 30-day supply.

I combined it with intermittent fasting, a low-carb diet, and some light weights cardio-focused workouts as I did with the Stenabolic, and I’ve had amazing results.

Since using Stena 9009:

  • My workouts have become more intense.
  • I have more energy to exercise.
  • I get less tired during and after workouts.
  • I recover faster.
  • My mood has improved.
  • I feel more focused.

And in the last month, I have lost just over 12 pounds (5.4 kg) without losing strength.

My abs are starting to show, and I am looking leaner and muscular now that my fat percentage is dropping.

I also haven’t noticed any negative side effects either. No insomnia, no headaches, nothing.

Stena 9009 has been a big help for my cutting phase, and I would 100% recommend it over SR9009.
