Welcome back, Superman.
Following reports that a Man of Sequel has been greenlit by Warner Bros., Henry Cavill’s management has confirmed that the movie is on the way.
Dany Garcia, whose company represents Cavill and is also the steward of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s super-busy career, said that Cavill is “in development for the Superman standalone,” according to an interview in Newsweek. Garcia says that Cavill is continuing to build his brand and his career, which will include another go in a Superman-centered film. Cavill is currently filming Justice League in London.
“Henry has a big appetite,” Garcia said. “We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
Cavill may have already hinted at the film after posting a new look for Superman on his social media—the muscular actor shared a photo of a black Superman suit—but when will we actually see it? Could it be in the upcoming Justice League? Or will Cavill don the new spandex in the Man of Steel sequel?
Either way, Cavill has been keeping himself in great shape, which he showed off for his September 2016 Men’s Fitness cover story. If you want to get your Cavill/Superman fix and can’t wait, check out the workout that got Cavill into Superman shape—plus his Justice League workout from our September 2016 issue. Cavill has a diet plan to go with it too, so you can bulk up like the Son of Krypton.
The Justice League trailer kept Cavill’s superman off-screen, but you can check out his buddies Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in action. Plus, don’t forget about Wonder Woman’s solo outing starring Gadot and Men’s Fitness July/August 2016 cover star Chris Pine.
Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Cavill as Superman and Affleck as Batman, hits theaters on November 17, 2017. Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gadot and Pine, will be released on June 2, 2017.
