CrossFit
As a high-intensity workout that combines functional bodyweight moves with strength training, CrossFit is already a calorie scorcher. The way to amp it up so you burn even more calories isn’t to add weight, which can compromise form, but to reduce the rest time between each move in a routine, says Ty Vincent, owner of Crossfit Sunset in Los Angeles. He suggests this routine, which is simplified to include just three basic moves that work all the major muscle groups. “You’ll only hit the 500-800 calorie range if you keep moving the whole time,” says Vincent.
5 minutes: do 15 burpees EMOM (every minute on the minute)
1 minute: rest
5 minutes: do 15 box jumps EMOM
1 minute: rest
5 minutes: do 15 kettleball swings EMOM
Total Time: 17 minutes
Estimated Calories Burned: 500-800
