Pros: No equipment; fairly straightforward technique; not very far to traverse
Cons: So. Many. Burpees; chest burn
Recommended for: Someone who loves pushups and has a long standing jump
Think a 5K is too easy? Really love to hit the ground, get up, and jump as far as you can? Then try the Burpee 5K, where you burpee broad jump for 3.1 miles. Depending on your strategy (jump as far as you can to limit the number of burpees, or hold something back to conserve energy?), you’ll end up doing between 2,000 to 2,500 repetitions. Though you’ll probably turn into a wet noodle by the 50th burpee, it’s good to know the proper form and have a training plan ahead of time. And pro tip: Be sure to wear a shirt, unless you want a gnarly burn on your chest.
