International Kettlebell Marathon
Pros: Lights up the core; can be done in your bedroom
Cons: Need superhuman grip strength; rough on your lower back
Recommended for: Someone with impeccable kettlebell form
When done correctly, kettlebell swings are one of the safest and most effective ways to increase your strength and explosiveness. So why not do swings for as long as possible? That’s the idea behind the International Kettlebell Marathon Foundation, which offers two events (a 30-minute half marathon and a 60-minute full) for nine different age groups. During the competition, you’re disqualified if you put down the bell, meaning you need truly epic grip strength. If you’re not yet at that level, consider doing 50 consecutive swings a day with the heaviest bell that allows you to maintain proper form.
