This marathon has blown up in popularity since it appeared as an event at the CrossFit Games in August (watch all three-plus hours here). However, the equipment required makes this a particularly challenging marathon alternative. You’ll be sitting for at least three hours, and no matter how the Games athletes tried to prevent it (periodically shifting their weight, changing their stroke style, putting towels on the seat), none escaped without some serious butt soreness. You’ll have better luck protecting your hands by taping the tips of your fingers and wearing gloves. Before you attempt it, ensure that your form is solid, but accept that this one is going to hurt no matter what.
