Pros: Minimal discomfort from the equipment; works your upper body
Cons: All the head bobbing
Recommended for: Swimmers; anyone with a strong pull
A few weeks after doing the row marathon at the CrossFit Games, Khan Porter decided to do all 42,195 meters on a ski urg. Even though he got food poisoning around the three-quarters mark and had to resort to skiing while sitting down and occasionally puking into a bucket, he still preferred this one to the rowing. Because he was standing (mostly), he could shift around his weight and bend his knees, which helped prevent cramping, and the movement was similar to a swim stroke, which is one of Khan’s specialties. However, he cautions that you’ll be spending hours moving your head up and down, which can get dizzying.
