Researchers at University College London published a study in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that found socially isolated people to be more prone to earlier death. “Being alone may lead to the development of serious illness and a reduced life span,” says study author Andrew Steptoe, M.A. Even on nights when you feel like flying solo, it’s better to bring along a wingman.
