Outrun Cancer
If liver cancer runs in your family, put on your running shoes: Groundbreaking research by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) suggests regular cardio could help prevent the big C. Mice were put on a high-fat diet (which may lead to liver cancer) then split into cardio and sedentary groups; the mice that ran an hour a day, five days a week, developed 29% fewer large tumors than the sedentary mice. This could benefit people “staring down the barrel of liver cancer,” says the EASL’s Jean-Francois Dufour, M.D.
