Zwift is another platform that shares similarities with The Sufferfest, in that it allows you to virtually tap into cycling tours and courses from around the world (albeit, through computer-generated graphics, not real-life video). But Zwift goes a step further by adding a social element to the experience. You’re actually required to connect your bike trainer, power meter, heart rate monitor, or cadence sensor to the platform in order to ride. The platform uses your data to calculate your virtual speed, then compares your speed to that of other riders, providing a sense of community and competition. It’s a little more complicated to get up and running than a straightforward app, but once you do, you can join group rides, communicate with other cyclists, and follow a slew of available training plans.
