Beef
Active Ingredient: Protein
What It Does: The foundation for healthy, shiny, thick hair, protein keeps your strands from appearing too dry or brittle, and encourages new hair to grow. “Our bodies are constantly repairing and regenerating the skin,” Dr. Treloar explains. “The building blocks to do this include amino acids from dietary protein.”
Other Sources: Fish, poultry, and other red meats — “especially lamb, which is high in zinc,” says Wu. “Zinc can help clear up breakouts on your face, chest, and back.” Another great protein source: Greek yogurt, which also contains Vitamin B5, a.k.a. pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid stimulates blood flow to the scalp and helps protect against hair loss.
