UFC Gym: Fight Fit
What’s Fight Fit and why’s it challenging for men?
“Fight Fit teaches basic MMA techniques while increasing muscular strength and cardio endurance,” says UFC Gym coach Karina Smith, C.P.T. “It’s challenging enough for any fitness level and includes bag work, cardio calisthenics, shadow kickboxing, sprawls, and more.” Aside from basic skills, the class aids in building a rock-solid core—necessary for day-to-day activities (or, y’know, abs).
Who’s the class for?
“Fight Fit is recommended for men and women looking to spice up their routine and get a challenging cardio workout to complement their weight-training regimen,” Smith says.
If you’re a member, you can rotate through some of UFC Gym’s other classes: boxing and/or kickboxing conditioning, daily ultimate training (a.k.a. DUT—high-intensity interval training boot camp), and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Whichever class you take, you get that perfect blend of functional fitness and skill work in a fat-burning, group-workout setting.
How often should guys attend?
“For maximum results, attend Fight Fit at least three times a week,” Smith suggests. This way you cement foundational skills and further your progress, so each class won’t feel like your first.
What can first-timers expect?
“You’re going to leave the class drenched in sweat and motivated to continue striving toward your fitness goal,” Smith says. “Fight Fit is empowering and the coaches consistently switch up the routine.” That’s key: No two classes will feel identical. Every coach has their variation. Within a few weeks you’ll feel and see the difference in your stamina, strength, and skills. It’s a unique experience with an incredibly inviting atmosphere, whether it’s your first time working out (ever) or you’re a fitness fanatic.
