Rule Seven: Share Well With Others
If you see someone giving side-eye while you rest on the bench press between sets, offer to let them “work in.” If you’re not familiar with this term, Fenrick explains it like this: Most athletes do, say, three sets of 12 reps. When you finish your 12 reps, you rest (off the machine) while someone hops in and does their reps. It’s a great way to get as many people through their workouts with as little wasted time as possible. Similarly, “No arm-curling in the squat rack,” says Manuel. If you’re not using the machine for its intended purpose, you have to make way for someone who wants to.
