Obesity Linked to 13 Cancers
A flabby gut really can kill you. In 2015, the World Health Organization found strong links between obesity and five types of cancer including colon and kidney. This year, eight more cancers joined the list. WHO researchers determined that people with BMIs of 30 and up have increased odds of liver, thyroid, pancreatic, stomach, gall bladder, and ovarian cancers, as well as multiple myeloma (a blood cancer) and meningioma (a type of brain tumor). They also found limited evidence linking obesity to prostate cancer, male breast cancer, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The message here is clear: Lose the spare tire — your life may depend on it.
