What The Biggest Loser tries to be for losing weight, Strong does for building muscle. Volleyball star Gabrielle Reece hosts this show, which pairs 10 women who are looking to get stronger with 10 top-level male personal trainers. Each team pushes their physical and mental limits through different challenges. The trainers are pretty legit — there’s a strength and conditioning coach for Cirque du Soleil, head strength and conditioning coach for Texas Tech football, and former MMA fighter in the mix. Each episode shows the trainers working to improve the strength of their teammates through real-world exercises (planks, deadlifts, you know). Then the real grimacing kicks in when their strength is tested through challenges like boxing and rowing. And, of course, there’s an elimination tower at the end of each episode full of strength-testing obstacles.
