Unless you build the world’s craziest jungle gym in your backyard, it’s difficult to properly train for a Spartan Race. But a new workout program by the race creators, called SpartanFIT, aims to do exactly that. They are one-day workshops hosted around the world by Spartan SGX trainers to teach you exactly how to train and give you a workout schedule. “We don’t want to focus on how to get through the obstacles, because the whole point of the race is to make you feel outside of your comfort zone, so instead we’ve created workouts that build your foundation,” says Joe Di Stefano, the SGX director. “We want these workouts to turn people into the most versatile, instinctual athletes they can be, because if we can do that, the race itself will be a breeze.” The workouts are bodyweight focused and force you to move in multiple planes of motions and directions. DeSena recommends three workouts a week, outlined below.
