8. Carry something heavy wherever you go
When obstacle racing caught fire a few years ago, some guys got so committed they wore a weighted backpack or carried a tire wherever they went. That’s good training for a Spartan Race or Goruck Challenge, and a good way to burn more calories. You need not grab a Michelin or put 30lbs of iron in your pack, but throw a few books in a backpack. If nothing else, carry one book wherever you go. Author Stephen King says reading is best done in sips, not gulps, and by carrying a book around you’ll also get lots of reading done in the many 10- and 15-minute windows of waiting throughout the day.
