Admit it, even you tear up a bit when you watch NBC’s The Biggest Loser. This show about average people struggling with obesity has inspired viewers (overweight or not) to get and stay healthy for almost a decade. But you have to wonder, does the cash prize play a huge part in a contestant’s success? And do the contestants really remain healthy once the show is over? We caught up with Dolvett Quince, the newest trainer on the show, to get the inside scoop. Watch our video and find out why he always has a smile on his face in the gym and other surprising facts about the show that he revealed to us in the interview.
Quince doesn’t just dish it out to his clients. He practices exactly what he preaches. Here’s what he had to say about his training and nutrition habits:
“I eat clean, but I do like to raise my metabolism. So I spike it by having a cheat day; my favorite cheat food is tequila….and cake.”
On Clean Eating:
“When I get up in the morning, I usually work out on an empty stomach and then I’ll have breakfast. I eat 5-6 small clean meals a day. By clean, I mean nothing white, nothing processed, lot of grains, lots of fiber, and organic when possible. I keep my meals small because portion control is important for everyone, not just someone who is obese, but for anyone trying to maintain a certain energy level, If you eat a lot you become lethargic, and who wants that?”
On His 10/10 Workout Technique:
“To work out I do ten and ten, which alternates 10 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of floor work back and forth. I alternate what I do for floor work to confuse the body; some days I will isolate certain body parts and work on those, and other days I will do combination movements.”
