Watch Jason Momoa Drink Beer and Throw an Axe Like a True Grizzly Man

Jason Momoa practices his axe-throwing skills.

If you had any doubt that Jason Momoa—aka Khal Drogo, aka Aquaman—was one badass dude, his latest social media post should put an end to that.

The Justice League and Game of Thrones star took to Instagram to show off his axe-throwing skills, hitting the bullseye with a tomahawk in a room full of wood—but only after taking a chug of his beer, naturally.

Here’s Momoa in all his grizzly glory.

Momoa just wrapped filming as Aquaman in the Batman v. Superman sequel, and clearly he’s still feeling pretty “super.” He got himself into fantastic shape to play Aquaman—absurdly jacked sounds about right—by working with trainer Mark Twight to prepare for Justice League. Momoa ended up with an eight-pack and some massive biceps after putting in long hours in the gym:

But Momoa’s not just putting on muscle for superhero stunts—he’s also starring as the rugged pioneer Declan Harp in the upcoming Netflix series Frontier, a historical drama chronicling the North American fur trade in the 1700s. It’s already premiered on Discovery in Canada, but will be hitting Netflix in the U.S. on January 20.

And if “eighteenth century historical fur trade drama” doesn’t exactly sound compelling, remember: This is Jason Momoa we’re talking about, and he is practicing axe-throwing for it. “The drama is told from multiple perspectives and set in a world where business negotiations are frequently resolved with hatchet fights,” the Hollywood Reporter notes dryly.

(Frontier has already been renewed for a second season, which typically doesn’t happen unless there is some seriously watchable badassery in the script.)

Check out Momoa in action in the Justice League trailer as Aquaman.

The film, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Momoa, Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, will be released on November 17, 2017.
