Here’s how we imagine the above video came to fruition: A bunch of delivery guys are probably sitting around, arguing over how far each guy could carry various appliances. Microwaves, toaster ovens, you get the idea. Then (again, pure conjecture here) the good people at Guinness World Records get wind of the idea, turn it up to 11, round up a couple of Northern European strongmen, and televise the whole thing in Italian.
That (according to our totally uneducated guess) is how we end up with Zydrunas Savickas and Hafthór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson carrying a giant squat rack containing two new refrigerators—total weight: 992 lbs.— for 20 meters. Savickas is the four-time winner of the “World’s Strongest Man” competition. Björnsson, of course, is known for his head-crushing role as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in Game of Thrones. Björnsson looks to have the advantage here, since his higher shoulders give him a little more ground clearance between the fridges and the ground.
Oh, and here’s something to keep in mind before you attempt to haul any heavyweight kitchen implements around your domicile: Björnsson is officially 6’9″ tall and weighs 386 lbs, although he’s been listed as heavy as 419 lbs. We’d tell you not to try this at home, but who has two unused refrigerators lying around and the prefabricated cage with which to carry them? (Actually, you know what? Just don’t try this at home.)
And in case that isn’t enough weightlifting heroism for one day, here’s a video of Björnsson also crushing the world record in the keg toss, which is possibly the frattiest world record ever, and also something you should definitely not attempt at your next party.
