Cut the Diet Soda
Diet drinks may be telling your body to eat more. "Artificial sweeteners can alter your reward system," says Nazario, explaining that the sweetener doesn't satiate our desire for sweet things, so we tend to follow up the Diet Coke with a snack. Studies have also seen links between obesity and diet soda consumption, but, Nazario adds, the research is still emerging. To be clear, this is not an excuse to drink regular soda, which is certainly worse for you. Nazario says water will always be your best beverage choice.
