Mike Kneuer, a retired pro physique athlete and online personal trainer, also cites the importance of hydration before and after hangover symptoms kick in, pointing to unsweetened coconut water as his go-to choice. “Coconut water contains potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium, which are all very important for making you feel better,” he says. “I’ll drink one or two of these before I go out and then another one or two before bed.” Aside from coconut water, he adds oatmeal to his list of morning-after cures. “This helps soak up some of the acidity from a night of drinking and eases the nausea associated with a hangover.”
