Our Methods (and Limits)
Ferreting out a breakfast that’s good for you at fast food restaurants is nearly impossible. While you can limit yourself to 300 calories and still have options, one nutrient proves a tremendous health challenge: “Even the ones that try to be healthy, are hitting you with salt over and over again,” says Cain. Per the United States Department of Agriculture, a meal cannot be labeled “healthy” if it contains more than 600 mg of sodium per serving. That should be your goal, but even we couldn’t stick to that in all of our selections. Cain also recommends being strict about sugar and looking for food that contains 5 g or less of the sweet stuff per serving.
