Monday, 11 AM: St. Petersburg Bowl Miami (OH) vs. Mississippi State
You know what I like? I like it when a team refuses to quit even though they lost their first six games and appear to be drowned in a sea of mid-major mediocrity. Enter the Red Hawks of Miami (OH) who turned a futile season into a triumph by winning their final six games and qualifying for postseason play. That tickles me. It's the first time in college football history that it's been done, and is largely attributable to the mid-season return of quarterback Gus Ragland from an ACL injury. They're not great, but they've got great big bell pepper-sized balls and I'm psyched to see them play. You know what I don't like? When 5-7 teams make it into a bowl game because we exist in a lawless, senseless time of dystopian lunacy. That's your Mississippi State Bulldogs, coming off a rough season in which they were badly abused by their SEC cohort. But it's still the SEC versus the MAC, and common sense suggests the Bulldogs will win handily, which is all kinds of wrong. Root hard for the Red Hawks.
