6. Steve Smith Sr., NFL, Baltimore Ravens
Smith has always been a fiery player—being 5’9”, 195 pounds in a sport full of brute goliaths will do that—but his trash talk and on-field celebrations take things to another level. The longtime Carolina Panthers wideout has never been shy about expressing his opinion towards other players, especially the defensive backs he goes up against on the gridiron.
Smith’s had quite a few memorable moments when it comes to trash talk: mocking Fred Smoot after burning him for an 11-catch performance; calling out corner Aqib Talib and telling him to “ice up, son” after a physical game; calling out his former team as “schoolyard kids” after putting up seven receptions, 139 yards, and two touchdowns in a Ravens victory.
But Smith saved his best for last. During the 2016 season, Smith and rookie Jalen Ramsey got into it during and after a game between the Ravens and the Jaguars. After the first-year player trashed Smith with some choice quotes, Smith came back and posted a picture to social media of him yelling right in Ramsey’s face and writing: “In 5 to 10 u will be retiring and they will be taking my measurements for something you will NEVER BE. #HOFer. I got cleats with stronger thread than you!!!”
