10. Drew Brees
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been one of the most prolific passers in history—his 5,476 passing yards from 2011 is an NFL single-season record—but he’s also been one of the smartest when it comes to training. After dealing with shoulder issues at the end of his tenure in San Diego, Brees has only missed two games between 2006 and 2016 with the Saints.
Brees uses a unique training style that includes a two-hour “split-fusion” session comprising a series of circuits that use about 100 movement variations, which focus on joint integrity, core strength, and overall conditioning. Brees broke down the workout for Men’s Fitness, and gave a behind-the-scenes video look at his TRX training on how he stays in shape. Brees is pushing 40, but he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
Brees also gave advice to Men’s Fitness on training in the heat during the summer, and the proper ways to hydrate, condition, and take care of your body when the temperatures rise.
