The NFL’s defining feature is chaos, with only one exception: the Patriots will win the AFC East for the 11th straight time. That’s pretty much all we count on, and even that depends largely on Tom Brady’s 42-year-old knees. Truth is, nobody really knows anything, including most of the people running NFL franchises. There are too many variables, too many injuries, and too many funny bounces that decide too many outcomes. But if you count on and accept the chaos, you can start to see a bit more clearly.
We looked ahead at the upcoming 2019–2020 season (and the Super Bowl) and, amid all the craziness and uncertainty, found 15 things that seem all but inevitable, or at least as inevitable as things get in the NFL. Here’s how the season will shake out.
