14. Watching at home will be more fun, too
For those who want to truly experience the game at home, virtual reality is on its way—eventually. The NFL has already installed cameras capable of capturing games in VR at many of its stadiums, and now offers highlights as part of a postgame package, as well as during some replays on Thursday night broadcasts. Actually providing a real-time game in VR is still some time down the road, thanks to the massive amount of data required. But when it comes, likely in the next two or three years, the resolution will be much higher on a headset, so you’ll truly be able to feel what it’s like to be on the field—without actually getting hit.
