With only days to go before the start of the World Cup in Brazil, Beats by Dre has released its ad, and it quite a doozy. “The Game Before the Game” is centered around Brazilian star Neymar Jr., who is listening to his father’s advice before he takes his place on the biggest stage in his sport.
The ad is peppered with soccer stars like Robin Van Persie of Holland, Javier Hernandez of Mexico, Mario Gotze and Bastian Schweinsteiger of Germany, Daniel Sturridge of England, Cesc Fabregas of Spain, Robin Van Persie of Holland, and Jozy Altidore from the U.S. Men’s National Team.
In a genius move, the company integrates a plethora of American stars to bolster the ad and make it more mainstream (yes, we know soccer is growing in America, but you have to admit that a lot of regular sports fans here have no idea who these soccer guys are). So we see LeBron James, Lil Wayne, Serena Williams, Nicki Minaj, and ESPN’s Stuart Scott. The soundtrack is “Jungle” by X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons, and all in all it is a pretty impressive feat of advertising. Check it out:
