Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (above) are the sport’s top hitting prospects. Tatis Jr. had such a torrid spring that he made the Padres’ opening-day roster. But for contractual reasons, the Blue Jays were slow to call up the deserving Guerrero and instead kept him down on the Dunedin (Fla.) Blue Jays and the Buffalo Bisons until late April. This sort of maneuvering gives teams an extra year of control at the end of a player’s contract, but it also totally ticks off fans, eager to watch a slugger do his thing.
