The Boston Red Sox won the World Series last night, October 30th, beating the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 with a score of 6-1.
It’s the first time the Sox have won in their home territory, Fenway Park, since 1918. They last won the series in 2007; David Ortiz, Big Papi, was named MVP.
By all accounts, it was an electrifying evening for Boston fans. Fenway was packed to the rafters, and tickets for the game reached sky-high price levels—the most expensive sports ticket ever.
For a city that narrowly missed out on the Stanley Cup (and the Patriots aren’t quite the powerhouse team they once were) a World Series win means everything. Months after the tragedy in April at the Boston Marathon, Boston has showed itself to be a city of resilience. Below is a video of the celebration.
From everyone at MF, congratulations Red Sox!
