Pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd “Money” Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs) has decided to go public in his quest for a new opponent. The 36-year-old fighter is giving fans a choice between the fast, technical-but-weak-chinned English fighter Amir Khan, and the teak-tough heavy-handed Argentinian Marcos Maidana.

Mayweather, who is in the middle of a lucrative six-fight deal with Showtime, has already dispatched Robert Guerrero and Saul Canelo Alvarez since leaving HBO, and the winner of the public vote will get his chance to challenge the champion in May.

So, for the average punter, who might give Mayweather a better fight? Khan has the skills, and more importantly the speed, to trouble Mayweather. The problem with Khan is that his chin has been his downfall. As brave as he has been in fights, he is very susceptible to getting knocked out. Maidana, on the other hand, has a chin of granite and concussive power in his hands, and though his technical skills have improved greatly in recent fights, Mayweather has the tools to easily outbox him. Maidana, who’s coming off a very good win against the overhyped Adrien Broner, would have a puncher’s chance.
